Dartmoor mountain bike

15-16 May 2018
Having survived Scotland climbing, I spent a night back in Fletching with Ebelle: delish fishpie, and a spot of gardening. Then onto Dorest for a couple of nights with the Fentons; laborious paperwork whilst Nick & Nicky were at work, then fun evening tennis (think Nicky & I last played tennis together 35 years ago on family holiday in Mallorca?!).

17-21 May 
On down to Plymouth for a few days, staying with Jake in his student house. He cooked delicious vegetarian dinners for me, and we had a glorious evening walk on Dartmoor.

Sun 19 May
Jake and I drove down to Falmouth to spend a chilled afternoon with Tom. We took a few of his Uni mates out for a much needed curry dinner (it had been a very big Saturday night out - even by their standards!) as an early celebration of Tom’s 21st because Jess, Ben Annie and I will be away in Valencia on his actual birthday (top parenting!).


20-23 May
I headed to Dartmoor on Monday for a spot of mountain biking - having not been on my beloved Whyte for 8 months! I parked just past Postbridge, and did a 17km loop planned out with Jake’s help  the night before.  Dartmoor is a stunning place to ride; nobody out walking on the hills, and I dropped down into wooded valleys and had an ice cream at Widecombe In The Moor with the beautiful church and tourist buses.

Ended with a perfect pint of Dorset ale at the Warren House Inn, then drove up to Exeter to stay at a charming little AirBnB.

I went for another ride on Tuesday, heading down to Bovey Tracey for coffee & blogging at the charming “Inner Light” coffee shop, then rode a 25km loop from Lustleigh. Another perfect sunny day with the top of moor to myself. The only glitch was a low-speed tumble heading up a tricky rock path, bursting my tub of coleslaw inside my back-pack, which I only realised when I stopped for my lunch break - yeugh!!

Jake joined me in Exeter that evening; we wandered through the pretty city and shared a fab  spicy pizza at the popular Firehouse.   Up early as Jake had placement in Exeter Hospital ay 0730, and I headed to Gatwick to meet Jess coming in from Krakow.
