We waved farewell to the Morrison’s, and had a lovely evening drive from Wanaka to Christchurch in under 5 hours,retracing our steps from a week ago and virtually no other cars on the road. We had a comfortable night in the Power town house, then popped out to Rangiora to say hello to Sarah Hogg’s parents in their perfect new house. It was so lovely to catch up with Russell and Marion after all the years (we last visited them when Jake was 18 months old!) and they even raised the flag for us!

What an amazing two weeks we have had in South Island. Far too short a visit, but fantastic to catch up with great friends, who have all been utterly incredible hosts. A very BIG THANK YOU to the Powers, Brinsleys and Morrisons: we have to up the ante when you next visit us in Kent, and are now heading to Melbourne for a rest!
